DOH Circular on the Guidelines for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program (UNHSP) Implementation

The DOH Department Circular on the Guidelines for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program (UNHSP) Implementation was released last March 31, 2014 to all health leaders and stakeholders including hospitals, health providers and patients across the country.

The Department of Health- Family Health Office (DOH-FHO) and the Newborn Hearing Screening Center- National Institute of Health, UP-Manila (NHSC-NIH-UPM) developed guidelines for the implementation of Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program (UNHSP) which will serve as a comprehensive guide and reference material for service providers and health workers who are engaged in the provision of newborn hearing screening, be it actual screening, training of health workers, or application of intervention strategies. Included in the circular are the roles guidelines of service providers for a clearer delineation and discharge of their functions.
