Universal Newborn Hearing Screening National Technical Working Group

Last July 14, 2016, the Department of Health Disease Prevention and Control Bureau conducted a meeting with the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening National Technical Working Group to discuss updates and issues on hearing screening center activities, certifications, compliance, and other pertinent concerns.

Part of the agenda were as follows:

  • Approval of the MOP Version 2.0
  • Report on distribution of the Registry Cards, inventory and revision of deed of donation
  • Upcoming Certifying Courses in Davao, Butuan and Metro Manila applications for privately hosted courses
  • Issue on facility code and licensing
  • Inspection of Category B, C and D Centers
  • Status of free standing hearing centers and issues on MOAs with private and government birthing facilities
  • Philhealth issues: increase in hearing screening center rate from Php 200 to Php 350, confirmatory tests, hearing aid and speech therapy coverage, attachment of blue form to claims
  • Penalties for non-compliance on certification (not on list), not using Registry Cards, not reporting
  • PCSO, PAGCOR and other government agencies, making them aware of algorithms and standards
